Quit Smoking NOW!
The Truth About Cigarette Smoking
Experience with hypnosis shows that nicotine is not strongly addictive. If you think about it, most nicotine replacement products, such as the patch, gum, or nicotine medication have nicotine in them, but why don’t we become addicted to these? The reason for this is that nicotine is not the main reason you smoke. The primary reason you smoke and can’t stop, is that years of smoking have created a very strong habit. Breaking a very strong habit takes more than willpower and intellect.
Think about it, every time you light up a cigarette, you make the habit stronger by reinforcing it. You have been reinforcing the smoking habit every day, month and year that you have smoked. It has become an automatic behavior that is only partly under the control of your will power. If you put a lot of your attention on stopping smoking, you can probably stop by will power alone. The problem is that when you put your attention on something else, the automatic behavior kicks in again and you will find yourself smoking.
Any habit or behavior that you reinforce as much as you reinforce smoking will be hard to break under normal conditions. Hypnosis allows you to create an altered state of mind where the habit can be neutralized quickly and effectively.
